Pruning is the process of removing specific parts of your tree. While this may seem like a simple task, it’s not. The process involves a lot of skill and patience. Start early

When starting the pruning process, you must first ensure that you have the correct tools, and that these tools have been sharpened. Using unsharpened tools to prune your tree may cause irreparable damage.

You need to get rid of the dead branches. Pruning dead branches should be the first task you decide to take on. This is important for the appearance of your tree, as well as its health because it reduces the risk of spreading decay.

 

Central leader

The central leader of the tree is the highest tip of in the centre of the tree. When in the planning phase, take note of this central leader. It is highly important that you never prune this part of your tree.
